Brownstone is a Grammy Award nominated R&B group who were very popular in the mid-90s. The original members of Brownstone were Nicole "Nicci" Gilbert, Charmayne "Maxee" Maxwell and Monica "Mimi" Doby. They formed the group and were signed to Michael Jackson's MJJ record label less than a year later. In 1995, they recorded their debut album, From the Bottom Up, which "If You Love Me" was a major hit. In 1995, the group earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Performance and a Billboard Music Award. "Grapevyne" and "Pass the Lovin" also brought them some success, as well as their rendition of "I Can't Tell You Why," which was originally recorded by the Eagles. After Mimi left the group, she was replaced by Kina Cosper. Brownstone attempted another comeback in 2007 with a new member, Racquel Roberts. Now, Teisha Brown has replaced Raquel Roberts in 2008. Maxee Maxwell said the group has NOT disbanded. They are supposedly recording new material for an album with an anticipated release date in 2011. My favorite song by Brownstone is "5 Miles to Empty." ♫ Kandee MusicLvr ♫
