Info on the 2011 National Poetry Awards in Dallas, TX

(Dallas, TX)--2nd Annual National Poetry Awards moves to Dallas, TX.  Around the country, millions share the love of creative thought and writing.  Now, Texans will have the opportunity to host those same brilliant minds in yet another weekend to remember.

On August 19-21, 2011 the 2nd Annual National Poetry Awards (NPAs) will take stage in Downtown Dallas, Texas.  Hosted by Award winning internationally renowned poet Michael Guinn from Irving, Texas, the NPAs are in need of a co-host for this event.   Sponsored by The Liberator Magazine, Silent Myndz Entertainment, Creative Impowerment, STAP.org, Deep Entertainment Productionz, Sapphire Entertainment, Complexx Vision Mutlimedia, & Electic Media, the 2nd Annual NPAs has huge shoes to fill.

The 1st Annual NPAs held in Raleigh, North Carolina were a resounding success.  As a result, 2010 NPA award recipients continue to claim victory by receiving additional awards, introduction to other artists and fans, television appearances, participating in various book panels, spoken word and slam team competitions, publishing poetry in print, on the Internet and audio recordings, mentoring, and the list grows daily.  The 2nd Annual National Poetry Awards will be bigger and better than ever overflowing the weekend with open mic forums, conferences, workshops, poetry contests, welcoming celebrations and the NPA ceremony. This historical event will give many silent voices the chance to be heard.  Artists who utilize pen and paper as their sole instruments may not have had an opportunity to be recognized for their genius before last year.  The 2nd Annual National Poetry Awards will do just that—provide a scene to recognize the poets and spoken word artists who were previously denied the chance to receive public accolades.

"The National Poetry Awards has been a dream of mine for years.  I am excited that I have yet to wake because my dream came true last year and it is continuing again.  I am thankful that every person I approach about the NPAs supports my dream," said Troy "Poet" Lewis, Founder of the National Poetry Awards.
Nominations of your favorite poets run for three months from March 15 - June 15 and the four nominees with the most category votes will receive 2011 NPA nods with voting being counted for one month beginning June 20 – July 20.

The 2nd Annual National Poetry Awards seeks presenting and media sponsors.  Donations of any kind will be accepted and portions of the proceeds from the awards will be donated to art councils and schools throughout the United States.  Tickets for the 2011 NPAs will become available in the coming months.
