Get To Know UpRite Lions

UpRite Lions

A new revolution is developing in the North Carolina hip hop circuit, and pushing their way to the forefront are B Star, Shef Seenya, and Trice collectively known as URL (UpRight Lions) of Fortified Entertainment. Their music is catchy and lively, yet always true to themselves. A combination of vivid storytelling and slick one-liners keep listeners drawn in for every word. URL has one of the tightest live shows, period.

They have conquered many local venues, including the Blind Tiger, Carolina Theatre, Greene Street, Broache Theatre and Eden, moving up the ranks quickly. Their hard work has enabled them to bookings in several colleges across the East Coast, including Spellman College, Charlotte University, North Carolina A&T, Delaware State and and Morehouse College. They have been presented opportunities to be on some big name shows, including:

  • *Common, Talib Kweli, Slick Rick & Last Poets @ Guilford College

  • *Little Brother, Pete Rock @ The Neighborhood Theatre

  • *Kanye West & Floetry, @ NC A&T

  • *Wayne Wonder @ Club Remix

  • *KRS-One @ Shaw University

  • *Mary J. Blige & Lords Of The Underground @ Mr. P's in Raleigh

  • *Anthony Hamilton @ University of Maryland Eastern Shore

  • In Summer 2007, XM Satellite Radio & Myspace held a big contest, with over 6,500 entries. URL came in fourth place, indeed a testament to their undeniable talent and rapidly increasing popularity. They have also received print press in magazines such as
Billboard Magazine, Go Triad, SpeakEZ Mag, Charlottegigs.com, A&T Register and even received the front cover of Fayetteville Observer. They have pushed their music to get rotation on Greensboro's prominent FM stations. URL has appeared on online TV shows, including: The Pavement, Street Scholar, The Collective and Generation:Got Next.

For URL, even with the numerous accomplishments, have yet to begin scratching the surface. Collectively and individually, they have released a number of stellar projects and each one is building up to the upcoming release of “The Pavement.”
For URL, it is not a matter of “if” they reach the next level, but “when"!
