THROWBACK VIDEO - RACHELLE FERRELL - I CAN EXPLAIN (LIVE) & NOTHING HAS EVER FELT LIKE THIS

Rachelle Ferrell was born and raised in Berwyn, PA. She is a lyricist, musician, composer, arranger and a vocalist. She started singing at age 6. Her octave range is an amazing six-and-change. Her classical training on the violin made her want to be an instrumentalist and songwriter. Her dad bought her a piano and she was playing as a professional 6 months later.  At 13 she began performing as a violinist and in her mid-teens she played as a pianist and vocalist. Rachelle enrolled in the Berklee College of Music in Boston to study arranging and composition and some of her classmates were Jeff Watts, Kevin Eubanks, and Branford Marsalis. Girlfriend graduated in a year and taught music with Dizzy Gillespie for the NJ State Council on the Arts. She worked with some top names in jazz . . . Quincy Jones, George Duke, George Benson and Gillespie.

Her debut album, First Instrument, released in 1990 only in Japan. In 1992, she released her self-titled CD and it was soul/pop/contemporary for Capitol Records. I wore that album out! My favorites were: Welcome To My Love,  With Open Arms, Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This (duet with Will Downing) and Peace On Earth. This is the CD where I took notice to this sistahs voice! I was like . . .  WHO IS THIS? I had to have the CD! I have been a fan of hers for almost 20yrs. Her other CDs are: Individuality Can I Be Me, and Live in Montreux 91-97. My favorite song EVER by Rachelle is 'I Can Explain'.  Check her out playing that piano, making faces and s-a-a-a-n-g-i-n-g her heart out! Her music doesn't sound as good unless she makes faces. She in working on a new CD currently and is in concert tonight (7/9/2011)  at 7:30PM ET in Baltimore, MD at the Pier 6 Pavilion with Frankie Beverly & Maze!  Why am I not in Baltimore tonight? ♫ Kandee MusicLvr ♫
